This is a complete beautiful route that goes from the city Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to the city of Candelaria, which is one the most beautiful towns in the Island.
Candelaria is the Holy City Tenerife; there we can find the “Basilica de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria” located in the heart of this town , sourrounded by the old market with “Terracitas” where you can have typical Spanish food, and the sea. In that Basilica is the Virgen of Candelaria or Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, that is one of the most ancient dedications of the Virgin Mary with the peculiarity that she has dark skin. Is named also “La Patrona de Canarias”.
For that reason this route is also done by foot as a spiritual route by hundreds of persons that comes from all over the world, each 15 August of each year, for her celebration.
To take a train that leads you to the citiy of Taco is necessary in order to get to the old highway, that even when it has lot of curves and some up hills, is not necessary difficult to do nor by walking neither by bike.
Before Candelaria, is a small beautiful town named Las Caletillas, which coast has a nice walking area and also interesting options at lunch time.
