My walking tour of Prague began in the old town square, Starometske Namesti. Enjoy the splendid architecture of the Tyn Church, St.Nicholas Church & the Astronomical Tower which has the apostles circling around at the strike of every hour. Walk north east into Tynska street where you’ll notice many houses built by certain people whose symbols of professions are placed at the corner of each building. Turn left into Mala Stupartska where you’ll see St.James Church in which has the hanging hand near the entrance for around 400 years. Then walk to the other side of Mala Stupartska street where you’ll arrive at an alley with a huge courtyard which used to be the storehouse of goods by merchants passing by Prague. You will then arrive at Celetna street which has many shops selling the infamous Bohemian Crystal.
After strolling along the street and back to the Old Town Square, walk north into the Champs-Elysee of Prague, Pariszka street which has the most exquisite and expnesive brands of chlothing up for sale. Walk further till you reach the oldest synagogue in Prague, the Old New Synagogue which marks the beginning of the Jewish Quarter. Don’t forget to look carefully at the Jewish symbol which has a hat in the middle of the Star of David which was compulsary for Jews in Prague back then. Take some time to explore the area around which includes a Jewish cemetary behind the synagogue which has 12 layers of bodies buried.
Walk along Maiselova street and later turning right into Siroka street in which there’ll be another synagogue, Pinkas Synagogue which has the paintings by Jewish children in the concentration camps. The entrance to the synagogues and cemetary are available in one ticket which enables entry into all.
Turn into Valentinska street and walk till you Marianske Namesti where you’ll see the New Town Hall and the opposite building with the IHS symbol which was built by the Jesuits. Enter the building and walk along the passageway to enjoy the small garden and as well as a curious statue of a girl sitting on the wall. At the end of the passage, you’ll arrive at Charles Bridge.
Walk on the bridge to admire the sculptures and the scenic buildings by the river. After crossing the bridge, walk straight and you’ll arrive at Malostranske Namesti which has the second St.Nicholas Church. Walk upwards the hill while glancing through the many interesting shops till you reach the top which is the Prague Castle Complex. Take your time in checking out the three courtyards, St.Vitus’ Cathedral and the garden. Then, walk down the staircase Stare Zemecke Schody to enjoy even more magnificent view of Prague till you reach the main street Pod Bruskou. Walk along the street and enjoy several parks along the way and cross the river by Manesuv Most and straight along reaching the Old Town Square.
