This part is the shortest route to see the entire main highlights of London possible that is highly recommended. This route begins from the Hyde Park just below the famous statue and arc in memories of the Duke of Wellington...namely The Wellington Arch. One can access here just at the Hyde Park Corner tube station. From here onwards, one travel fully on foot to have a better sight of the city. Walk down the Constitution Hill street...one can be near to the nature with one of the many royal parks in London just on your right...which is the Green Park. Definitely a good spot for picnic lovers. At the end of this street...one comes to the most significant spot of all London...the famous Buckingham Palace. If you might be lucky, you could catch a glimpse of the changing of guard. Take note of the flag on top of the palace, if you want to get a correct guess when is the Queen is at home...you'll see not the flying of the Jack Union flag but the flag of yellow and red with the code of arms. Spend some time to admire the 3 gates surrounding the middle monument...namely the Canada, South Africa and Australia Gate.
Spot the South Africa gate and head down the road. Walk till the end and you'll end up in Trafalgar square. But...that's too common of a way, so let me bring you to a more hidden side of London from tourists eye. Follow the path by the Green Park and go thru a small lane and you'll find yourself end up in St James' Palace. Another important landmark for the royal family, where mainly press conference are held...particularly the latest announcement of the royal wedding of Prince William. Continue on Pall Mall Street. This is where all the main embassies are located. Also a high end business district...so you'll definitely see some rich building architecture. After a short detour...you'll also find yourself in Trafalgar square. A famous meeting point, under the magnificent Nelson's column and the 4 lions with the National Art Gallery as backdrop. From here...you can either visit the Chinatown just behind the square at the Soho district or head on down to the Horse Guard Parade in Horse Guard road. As the name suggest...it's where the Horse Guards begin their parade down the Birdcage Walk for the changing of guard in Buckingham Palace front yard. Just close by is also the Prime Minister of Great Britain's residents as well as the Chief Whip's. On the opposite, you should go and have a look at those bird species especially the pelicans just by the Duck Island in St James' Park.
Then, take on to Westminster district thru the Parliment Square and you'll find yourself in the compound of the world-reknown Westminster Abbey. The cathedral where all royal thrones were coronated as well the famous wedding of Prince Charles' and Princess Diana's. Coming soon too will be Prince William's too. Cross the street and you'll see the Westminster Parliament House and the famous Big Ben. Be ready to be mesmerised away by those intricate gothic design of this magnificent building. Catch the exact hour to hear the Big Ben sounds too.
Finally, cross the Westminster Bridge and remember to stop by the middle to take a shot of Parliament as background..especially when it's all lit up. End your tour at the London's Eye. Recommended too for a ride to have a great view of the city. But remember to book online together with other attractions if you wish to visit as well eg Madame Tussaud etc.
